The Change of Some Electrolytes Concentation in Follicular Fluid at Various Maturational Stages of Porcine Ovarian Follicles

Abstract
In order to investigate the ion metabolism in various stages of porcine ovarian follicle maturation, changes of Na, K, Mg, and Ca concentration in the follicular fluid were measured. In follicular phase and luteal phase ovaries, ion concentration
of
follicular fluids, which were pooled separately from the normal and atretic follicle, was analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometry.
@ES The results were as follows;
@EN 1. In follicular phase and luteal phase ovaries, the concentrations of Mg and K were higher in normal and atretic follicular fluid than in serum,but those of Ca and Na in follicular fluid were lower than in serum.
2. In follicular phase and luteal phase ovaries, the concentrations of Mg and K were decreased in normal and atretic follicular fluid according to follicle maturation, whereas that of Ca was increased.
3. In follicular phase and luteal phase ovaries, the Mg/Ca and K/Na ratio in follicular fluid were decreased according to follicle maturation.
Based upon the results, ionic changes in follicular fluid, particularly increase of Ca concentration, may be resulted from Ca-Mg exchange and support microenvironment for oocyte maturation.
